Your Built-In Light Switch |
Some days feel like everything’s going wrong like you’re stuck in traffic, missed charging your phone, forgot your lunch, all before noon. But optimism? It’s the choice to believe that even the worst days won’t last forever. It’s flipping on the mental light switch when things look dark and that too, in a jiffy.
It’s not about pretending everything’s perfect; it’s about believing something good could be just around the corner. Optimism keeps you moving, keeps you dreaming, and honestly? Makes the ride a lot more fun. It often sparks the day and hey, be ready for that short circuit too. This is life! It’s knowing things might just turn out okay and if not, you will. It’s choosing to see possibility even when your current screen is full of error messages, real or emotional.
At times, optimism is silent. It shows up when all the doors are shut. Then slowly, your inner voice murmurs, “Let’s give it a shot,” even when the odds are average at best. It also sneaks into how you talk to yourself. It’s when you say, “This is tough, but maybe I’m tougher.” It’s tiny, almost invisible but, that self-encouragement… It really helps! Slowly, steadily, it becomes the way you walk through life, a little lighter, and more confident.
And if you really want to see optimism in action, just look at a homemaker or you may have someone similar at your place. She reminds them all “Charger’s on the table, tiffin’s packed, keys on the hook…” every single day. She knows they’ll forget. She is aware they’ll call midmorning asking, “Where’s my charger or have you seen that paper?” But still, she reminds! Because deep down, she is wildly optimistic that one day, just maybe, someone will remember. Knowing they won’t. But hope lives on!
So just a quick note to always keep in mind. Optimism is that stubborn internal switch that will always flip to something hopeful, something that helps you keep moving, even when things are spinning in a completely different direction.
Oops.. my phone battery is almost dead. Why did I forget the charger?
Switch. Phew! I just found one plugged in! Quick flip. See I Told you!
That’s all it takes to shift the mood. And that tiny shift or quick thinking is where everything else begins.
